Tea, coffee, and tableware selection for cross-border remote workers

As someone working in the international long-distance tourism industry, I need a variety of small items at home that can create a sense of ritual for going to work.

Starting with a cup of tea or pour-over coffee for breakfast, my go-to choice is the Muji stoneware coffee filter (11.3cm in diameter). The grey-beige color easily complements other white tableware, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The ceramic filter is easy to clean, has a smooth texture, and is compatible with many different sized cups and dishes. Nature has become the most convenient choice in daily life.

When working from home, since there are no colleagues to chat with or change your mood in a physical space, you can try to create different atmospheres yourself! I like to choose coffee cups or tableware that I buy from different countries when I travel, whether it's for a cup of hand-drip coffee for breakfast or a refreshing tea in the afternoon. Using different tea or coffee cups every day gives me a different mood.

For everyday use, I love using the Japan 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Mini Blue Bottle Mug (approx. 250ml / 70 × H66・W107 mm including handle), which I bought from Blue Bottle Coffee in Tokyo. Handcrafted by artisans in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, its warm ceramic feel and simple blue bottle design evoke memories of my travels whenever I use it, instantly transforming the mundane feeling of working or staying at home. The classic 350ml version is more commonly found in the store.
