Tokyo home goods selection store - Actus, Today'Special, baise tableware selection

東京家居選物店- Actus, Today'Special, baise食器器皿選物

Hello December!

Taking advantage of a recent work break, I spent two weeks in Tokyo and Nagoya, Japan. For a lifestyle enthusiast who enjoys selecting items for the everyday, Japan is truly a shopping paradise, where I fully experienced the spiritual satisfaction brought by the different atmospheres of select shops.

The first one - Actus

Actus Brand Introduction

A well-known Japanese home furnishing brand, it has been importing and exporting since the 1960s. Known for its fusion of Nordic minimalist style and Japanese lifestyle aesthetics, it provides high-quality furniture, general merchandise and household goods, emphasizing the concept of "Fine Living".

Luckily, there's an Actus store in Lalaport near my friend's house. I initially went there because of the Muji store next door, but I found the selection at Actus to be quite interesting. Although the store is small, it has a lot of attractive Japanese tableware. The small bowls and plates are mostly priced between NT$200 and NT$400, which is a reasonable price to buy and collect, so I bought two small items.

❶ Japanese-made hand-painted flower sauce dish

Each hand-painted flower saucer is unique. Because they are hand-painted, the patterns are all different. For a new year, let's wish ourselves a festive year with gold and red decorations!

❷ Made in Japan Small sauce dish & chopstick rest

The two-in-one design is exactly what I wanted; it serves as a chopstick rest and also as a sauce dish. This dual-purpose design makes it a very appealing product.

The second store - Today's Special

During my vacation in Tokyo, I didn't actually plan any specific itinerary. I just happened to meet a friend in Jiyugaoka one day for a chat, and we casually looked around for small shops I'd like to visit, which led me to Today's Special. Jiyugaoka is a paradise for general merchandise, with neat streets and many cafes. I highly recommend setting aside an afternoon to fully experience the local lifestyle. Since I had plans for the evening, I only had 15-20 minutes to quickly browse the shop, but I still managed to find some gems.

Today's Special: Brand Introduction

Originating from Japan, this curated lifestyle brand treats every day as a special one, offering tableware, ingredients, clothing, lifestyle goods, and original products from around the world. Through exquisite selection and design, it aims to make everyday life extraordinary, often presented in the form of multi-functional concept stores.

❶ Small sauce container

Although it's just a simple white utensil, its color scheme and design make it easy to match with other tableware, and its price of around 100 NT dollars has made it a must-have for the home.

❷ Kyoto's century-old tea shop, Ippodo Daifuku tea, a limited-edition New Year offering.

Japanese people like to enjoy "Daifukucha" with their families on New Year's Day to pray for happiness and health in the new year. This limited-edition tea is only available during this period. Bless yourself with Daifukucha in the new year of 2026!

Kyoto's "Ippodo Tea Shop," with over 300 years of history, upholds its original intention of "preserving tea with all its heart." The tea leaves are grown in the high-quality natural environment of Kisarazu and Uji River. After picking, the leaves undergo processes such as steaming, rolling, drying, and screening. The tea is produced, sourced, and blended locally.

Address : 3-18-2 Nishi-Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo

Two days after leaving Tokyo for Nagoya, I finally went to Asakusa, the kitchenware paradise, with my friends. There were quite a few foreign tourists there that day, and it seems that Japanese tableware has a certain appeal to foreigners!

I visited several stores that day, and the one that impressed me the most was baise. Their selection of tableware and utensils featured a white theme, and the whole store had a very sophisticated feel, presenting a clean and minimalist aesthetic. Considering the weight of my luggage, I restrained myself and only bought a small deer-shaped plate and a grinding bowl as souvenirs. The store carries both Japanese and Chinese-made products; if you're a connoisseur specifically looking for Japanese tableware, be sure to check the product's country of origin carefully.
